Messaging
What COVRD sends, and how to stop it
COVRD sends messages about work: a job posted near you, a bid on your request, the moment a job is awarded. It does not send marketing, and it does not sell or share your contact details with anyone for their own messaging.
Text messages are not switched on
COVRD has never sent a text message. You can agree to receive them and we will record that you did, but sending stays switched off at the deployment level until our messaging service is registered and live.
So everything below describes what governs text messages when they begin — not traffic that is going out today.
Email — this is what runs today
Email is on by default, because every message COVRD sends is tied to something you did: you posted a request, you bid on a job, you chose a pro. None of it is promotional.
Every email ends with the reason you received it and a Stop these emails link. That link works without logging in — a pro standing at a job site should not have to sign in to opt out.
The four messages, in full
There are exactly four. Below is the text of each, quoted from the code that generates it, with the parts that vary shown in braces.
A job is posted near you
To a trade business whose service area and trade match a new request.
Text version
COVRD: new {trade} request {distance}. Bid: {link}
Why you received it
You're getting this because your org covers {trade} {area}.
Someone bid on your request
To the homeowner who posted the request.
Text version
COVRD: new bid of {price} on your {trade} request. See it: {link}
Why you received it
You're getting this because you posted a request on COVRD.
You won the job
To the trade business whose bid was chosen.
Text version
COVRD: you won the {trade} job ({price}). Customer details are in the app: {link}
Why you received it
You're getting this because you bid on this job through COVRD.
You chose a pro
To the homeowner, confirming who now has their details.
Text version
COVRD: you chose {pro} for your {trade} job. They have your contact details now. {link}
Why you received it
You're getting this because you chose a pro for your COVRD request.
There is deliberately no “you did not win” message. It would tell a losing bidder that someone else bid lower or sooner, which is exactly what a sealed bid withholds.
How often
- Job notifications to a pro are capped at one per hour, per person, per channel. Five requests posting in the same evening produce one message, not five.
- The other three are bounded by your own actions — you cannot receive more award confirmations than jobs you have awarded.
- Each message is sent once. Retries and double-submitted forms collide on the same record rather than sending twice.
If text messages are switched on in future, message and data rates may apply. COVRD does not charge for messages.
How consent works
Text messaging is off for every account and cannot be switched on without a consent record. That is not a policy we intend to follow — it is a constraint in the database, which refuses to store “SMS on” unless a consent time and the consented phone number are both present.
- The consent time is stamped by the server, never sent by the app. A timestamp the client supplies is not evidence of anything.
- Consent attaches to a specific phone number. If you later change your number, the old consent does not follow it.
- Withdrawing consent switches messages off and keeps the record that consent was once given. Deleting that record would destroy the evidence that the messages sent beforehand were lawful.
- A person can only ever record or withdraw consent for their own account. There is no path by which one account acts for another.
Where you are asked, and what it says
Text alerts are off for every account. The only place they can be switched on is Your account → Text alerts, after signing in. Nothing is pre-ticked: you open the panel, enter your mobile number, and tick a box that reads “I agree to receive text alerts from COVRD at this number.”
This is the disclosure shown on that screen, in full. It is the same text the app displays — this page renders it from the same source, so the two cannot drift apart.

These texts come from COVRD. COVRD is a product of Main Street Group LLC, a Florida limited liability company.
You will only get texts about work: a job posted near you if you are a pro, and confirmations about your own requests and jobs. COVRD does not send marketing texts and has no marketing list to add you to.
How often depends on what you do — a pro covering a busy trade hears more than one who does not. Job alerts are limited to one an hour.
Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or HELP for help. You can also switch them off on this screen at any time, and that takes effect immediately.
Agreeing is not a condition of using COVRD. Everything works exactly the same without it, and you will still get the same notifications by email.
Every consent is stored with the version of this text that was on screen at the time. When the wording changes, a new version is added rather than the old one edited — so what somebody agreed to stays what they agreed to.
How to stop messages
- Email — use the Stop these emails link at the bottom of any message. No login needed.
- Anything at all — email support@covrdnow.com and a person will handle it.
- Delete your account from inside the app and all messaging stops with it.
- Text alerts — reply STOP to any text, or HELP for help. You can also switch them off at Your account → Text alerts, which takes one tap and takes effect immediately.
Turning text alerts off is deliberately easier than turning them on: one tap, no confirmation step, nothing to talk you out of it. A record that you once agreed is kept, because that is what shows any messages sent beforehand were ones you asked for — but it stops anything further.
